Adult Upgrading:
A free service for persons age 18 or older who want to improve their reading, writing or math skills.
About the Program:
Free - Voluntary
- Individualized for each client
- Continuous intake - no waiting for the start of a new semester!
- Clients work at their own pace and on their own schedule
- Takes place at our Oshawa and Bowmanville Resource Centres
For the Clients:
Meet in a group setting, but work on their own programs - Are assisted by staff/volunteers on a one-to-one basis
- Are assessed regularly so that revision/modificatons can be made to their program
An important component of our literacy offering is the computer reading program, "Autoskills." This program has been developed particularly for the learning disabled adult, and has been an invaluable tool.
Sessions are held all year and intakes for the Literacy/upgrading program are by appointment.
